Many things in this life bring a measure of satisfaction. Solomon found a measure of satisfaction in the wealth he amassed. He found some fulfillment in construction, agriculture, beauty, music and the arts. Yet, all of that left him with an empty feeling.
Most of us would look at Solomon; the richest, wisest man whose kingdom was so great that the Queen of Sheba when she saw it, could not find words to describe it. Yet the one whom she admired for the greatness of his kingdom was the one who said, “It is all vanity.”
Maybe it is best put this way, all is vanity if it is separated from God and His purpose. However, all things are fulfilling when Christ is at the centre and part of everything we do.
