There's more to life – Local caring with a global mission
Jesus said that "the field is the world." He also said that we are to "look at the fields which are ready for harvest."
Each year we emphasize giving to mission projects here at home and around the world. Locally, we support Carol Gray, who gives her time at the "Life Center," a downtown outreach for street people. We also support the Samaritan Inn, a home for ladies in recovery. This is led by Dixie Hoffman, Diane Gervais and a team of faithful, caring people. We also give monthly support to Kenn Parker, who is involved in a church plant in Victoria. Besides that, we also give to needy individuals that come into our doors from time to time. We give them hope and food, according to the resources that we have.
Beyond Canada, we continue to support Allan Bay, our missionary in Thailand. We’ve given him full support, raising $10,000 last year towards a new vehicle. When our team went down last spring, we also purchased equipment to help him in the various aspects of his ministry. God willing, we will be helping Tarmo Kostamo in European leadership development endeavors as well.
This year we need to raise about $110,000 for the support of local and global missions. If you will help us with a cash gift or a monthly commitment this New Year, we will be able to fulfill the commitments that we have made. Beyond this normal budget, there are designated funds that go to trips, as well as other places in the world. One example is Steve Nemeth. This commitment alone has exceeded $70,000. This came from our church body as well as others who gave. World missions giving envelopes will be available for the next several weeks, prior to Christmas. Get involved! "Local Caring with a Global Mission."
PS - Any injection of funds at this time to help cover Pastor Tim's trip to Malta and Africa would be greatly appreciated. Vic Eiswerth is graciously accompanying Pastor Tim at his own expense. However, Pastor Tim's costs for this trip will be around $4,000. Thank you for caring.
