In scripture there seems to be contradiction at times. One of these contradictions is found in Psalms 127: 1 where it says “except the Lord builds a house, they labor in vain that build it.” Then we are also told in I Corinthians 3:9 that “we are laborers together with God and that we are to pray to the Lord of the Harvest that He would bring forth labourers.”
Looking at all the scripture on this subject, we conclude that there is no contradiction but rather the emphasis is on God working through us and Him having full sway in our lives with the building of His house. Maybe we can put it this way: the Lord is the Chief Architect and the Overall Supervisor and we are His builders, consulting Him on everything that He has planned and we build according to His plans. Not only that, we also build in His grace and strength and for His glory and so together, we build the House.
