The Wisdom of Giving
If God tells us to do something, it is born out of His wisdom for our good as well as for the good of others. The purpose is always for God's glory to be known in us and in our world. Here are five reasons why God would exhort us in His word to give.
1.Giving delivers us from selfishness. If we never give, we prove to God, and ourselves, that we are selfish.
2.Giving delivers us from covetousness. Covetousness is a heinous sin, so much so that God tells us in His word that covetousness is idolatry.
3.Giving produces great joy in the giver and the receiver. When we operate in a spirit of giving, joy comes with it as we release the gift. Also, when we give to someone, it produces joy and gratitude in them. So we see from this that giving has a powerful effect on both the giver and the recipient.
4.Giving meets the needs of others. How wonderful it is to have this in action in a world filled with needy people and to see those needs met.
5.Giving opens the windows of Heaven to the giver. Both material and spiritual blessings are poured out when we give as God told us to.
There is a lot of wisdom in giving.
