Decisions on Discipline
Decisions in life are very important. The day you made a decision to follow Christ and make Him Lord of your life was probably one of the most important decisions you have ever made. Dr. Billy Graham had a program called “The Hour of Decision”. Countless numbers of people made decisions for Christ when hearing Dr. Graham preach on the radio. Decisions are very important. However, if discipline does not follow, the decision can be somewhat unfaithful. To make a decision to follow Christ and then not be disciplined to follow through in being a faithful member to the local church, a prayer warrior, or a bible reader can then negate or nullify the potential of the decision. To make a decision to stop taking drugs or to not over-eat is not enough to stop the addiction. It must be followed through with discipline. Decisions get us started and discipline helps us complete. Building a house is not achieved by a decision, but by discipline. Discipline has to follow the decision. Christ called us to be disciples (disciplinary ones), not just decision makers. More than that, He called us to make disciples and to make disciplined people. Discipline can even be painful, but in the end it pays off.
Both humility and pride are a personal choice. We can choose to humble or exalt ourselves. If we humble ourselves we will be exalted to our high calling in due time.
We will find rest for our souls and we will inherit the earth, according to His promises.
If we exalt ourselves, we loose that inner peace and forfeit the many blessings that come to the humble. By humility the small become great. However by pride, the great become small. Whoever exalts themselves will be brought low in due time. On the other hand, whoever humbles themselves will be brought to honour. In view of this we humble ourselves under the almighty hand of God to be exalted in due time for his honour and glory.
