Check On Your Wisdom

“Be not wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and depart from evil.”

(Proverbs 3:7)

Can we be blinded by our own thinking and wisdom? Is it possible to become a fool by thinking we are wise?

Deception is a strange thing. When in deception we are fooled to think that something that is, in actuality, is not. In my own life, I have often not looked beyond the surface of something and have been fooled. I once bought a car that looked beautiful, but under the surface it was a piece of junk. I was fooled or deceived when I thought I had made a wise judgement on the purchase of that car. I lacked wisdom.

The greatest folly in life is to think that we are wise in our own eyes. When we fail to submit our ideas to God and others we could be in real trouble. The real acid test for wisdom is to fear or reverence the Lord and His ways. That actually is the beginning of wisdom. (Proverbs 1:7)
