Canada, a Great Nation
What a wonderful nation we have. Some would ask, “Why is Canada such a great place?” There are three reasons.
1. Why? Because of the people
Canada has produced some of the world’s finest leaders, athletes, entertainers, educators and Christian workers. In Canada, we have a mosaic of nations which gives us colour and variety. In this country, people come from almost every nation of the world and 68% of our population claim to be Christian in addition to approximately 23% attending some kind of church at some time.
2. Why? Because of the place
What a vast expanse this nation represents in square miles or kilometres of space that is sandwiched between two great oceans and situated as next door neighbours to the United States, which is one of the most influential nations of the world. Geographically, we represent so many different climates and landscapes. We have the beauty of the Maritimes, and the variety of the Canadian Shield, the Great St. Lawrence Sea Way and the beautiful prairies with their vast harvest fields. Coming into the west we have the glorious Rocky Mountains containing almost unlimited amounts of trees and timber, supplying the world with building materials. Mining resources are also great in this nation. Few nations have the space per capita that we have for all kinds of recreation. What a place.
3. Why? Because of the possibilities
No nation represents greater possibilities for us and our children. We have a government that was founded on biblical principles which gives us a fibre and infrastructure for success. Even former Prime Minister Trudeau said, “The golden thread of faith is woven throughout the history of Canada, from its very beginnings up to this present time.” He said, “Faith was more important than commerce in the minds of many European explorers and settlers.” He also said that, “Canadians are indebted to the faith of their fathers and the spiritual heritage which finds expression in countless ways in our daily lives.” The gospel can be shared openly and freely here.
We are a land loaded with natural resources as well as having some of the finest communities and most desired cities of the world. Children here have the greatest opportunity for the finest of education. No other nation has on its peace tower the invitation for our Lord to have dominion from sea to sea. (Psalm 72) Canada will have a role in shaping our world in more ways then one.
CANADA – you have great people and you are a great place to live with possibilities yet untapped!
