According to God’s Word, nothing is more beautiful than holiness. Holiness spells dignity, purity and that which has a beautiful fragrance about it. The actions and movements prescribed by God in the Tabernacle of Moses were characteristic of God and Heaven. What could be more beautiful?
When the Bible speaks of ascending to the hill of the Lord, it tells that we are to come with clean hands and a pure heart (Psalm 24). From purity of heart proceeds purity of worship and work.
Again and again God called His people to sanctify themselves or to make themselves holy.
While it is God and what He has given us that makes us holy, our responsibility is to apply what God has given to us. To “cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God”.
Washing of the Word and the application of the Blood of Christ as we confess our sin, enables us to achieve holiness again and again. We are tainted by our own failure and those things in the world that pollute us.
